Dr. Nikola Ragusa is a highly experienced laser cataract surgeon and glaucoma expert at New York Ophthalmology. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and dedicated to making excellent eye health and medical care accessible to all his patients. His passion for using technology to improve the patient-physician experience is reflected in his leadership, consultation, and innovation in the telemedicine space.
Dr. Ragusa specializes in micro-incisional glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and was among the first physicians in the United States to offer advanced treatments including Femto Laser Cataract Surgery, OMNI Canaloplasty, the Hydrus microstent, and the TECNIS Synergy™ Multifocal Extended Depth of Focus lens. He is also well-versed in treatments for cataracts, macular degeneration, retinal and corneal disorders, diabetic retinopathy, pediatric ophthalmology, uveitis, and dry eye disease.
Dr. Ragusa completed the prestigious seven-year program at the CUNY Medical School and graduated with top honors from the Downstate School of Medicine. He was formerly the chief resident at Northwell Health for his ophthalmology residency, as well as chief glaucoma fellow at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He is now one of the most experienced surgeons by volume in the New York Metro area and regularly lectures in the telemedicine industry.
As a dedicated researcher, Dr. Ragusa has published numerous academic papers in the field of ophthalmology and actively shares his knowledge by teaching other doctors. He co-founded Pulse Telemedicine Technologies, a company aimed at improving patient access to their provider, making medical care more easily available.
